15 MONTHS POST OP‼️

Something I’m asked constantly is whether life ever feels ‘normal’ again. It’s a justifiable fear for most people considering weightloss surgery and I feel as though it’s something that needs to be addressed.

It’s really easy to do some research and see people eating the tiniest of portions and struggling with gas pain and going through a hellish LRD and feel as though it’s the norm for life post op when in reality, it’s just a snippet.

I’m now 15 months post op and life is pretty much normal!! In fact if it wasn’t for SGS, I’m sure there are some days when I’d forget I even have a reduced eating capacity. I do my best to eat cleanly, exercise regularly and take my daily vits. Okay so I can’t take a massive gulp of water, nor can I have a drink with my meal. You can pretty much eat whatever you wish, just less of it. I also avoid fizzy drinks because of the gas but that’s just me. Apart from that, there’s no real difference.

Naturally the UK lockdown has affected life (as it has for everyone) and I’m excited to go to restaurants and the gym and to clubs and experience normal life with a sleeve but for now I can pretty much say life is normal.

If you’re considering wls and you’re unsure about life post op, please keep your research varied. Speak to people who are new to the loser’s bench. Speak to people who are 3 years out. It’s really easy to panic and see things on social media which aren’t necessarily a true reflection of life post surgery!!

(For reference, I ate 80% of the fish, all of the veg and all of the sweet pots)
